Friday. Left work on time. The babysitter made a ton of food for us to take home for Brian's birthday. Chicken curry and roti. Victoria and I made a cake, she iced it and we used plenty of sprinkles to disguise this. We rented My Dinner with Andre but stopped watching because we were falling asleep.

Saturday. I left early to set up the library book sale (nice weather, big relief). Brian and Victoria dropped by after dance class and we went to his parents' house. His brother gave us some tickets to a show he couldn't attend and we took his mom along. We didn't know what the show was until we got there--turned out it was Fred Garbo's Inflatable Theater. It's a juggling, dancing, comedy thing with giant air-filled costumes and props. Everybody enjoyed it, especially the guy sitting next to Brian. Oh, and Victoria. I thought it was good, too, but I kept wondering about something I left running at work and by the end of the show I had a big fat headache and I was tired of happy Stavishes. Fortunately, when we got home I checked and saw that disaster was indeed looming, so I went to work for a while. I would have been home by 3am but an ill-advised foray into my lj friends list led me to some Trixie Belden fan fiction, of which it turns out there is plenty.

Sunday. I slept for a couple of hours and then I went to the gym and was a little more awake when I got back home. We all biked to a couple of damp playgrounds and then I told Victoria I would make pancakes so she agreed to go home. I make the worst pancakes imaginable, but I let her help so she thinks they're the best. Brian went to play softball, Christopher went to do whatever it is that he does, and we went up to Frederick to drop off some software. That's a bit of a hike, but I figured we could continue on to Hagerstown and get some shoes for Victoria at the outlet place there. So we met the contractor's cute baby and mean cat, we got sneakers and sandals and two books. Plus I finally stopped at the scenic overlook stop on just south of Frederick. Mmm, scene-y. Victoria slept on the way home, but since I was driving I tried to stay awake. At home I gave up trying. I didn't wake up until Victoria was ready for bed. We read her new Powerpuff Girls book, which I do not recommend but she seemed to enjoy. Then I watched My Dinner with Andre and said hmmm. I said it to myself because Brian had once again abandoned the movie in the middle. Now I am going to write the movie meme for my next post and I think that will be the end of my weekend.

was that me on the Trixie fanfic? Sorry! Those were some awful examples as well. I know there is some good stuff, I remember reading a story that was fairly well done and now I can't find it.

Of course it was you. I had a great time looking through them. The one you linked to had the excellent line:

Any mother might be grateful, but any mother could also be out of her mind!

I think this week's goal for me is to work this into something. It may take more than a week, considering this May has been Sucks To Be Me Month so far.

Anyway, I enjoyed it. No need to apologize!

Wow, just reading about your weekend makes me feel exhausted! You really packed a lot in there.

I hope things at work are starting to level out and calm down for you. Only one more week until the semester is completely finished.

Garbo? Where'd you see Garbo? I have never seen his whole show, though I've taken a class with him.

It was the Strathmore Arts Center and he was really, really good. His partner was good too, plus she was kinda hot. You know, like Brazilian dancer hot. I thought of you throughout the show, except when I was gawking at her. I'll tell you what, juggling three enormous parachuteycubes is some very slow juggling.
