Sunday evening I went to a party for the local booksellers' group. I can't get over how much fun it is to hang out with this set of people. I was invited to come to a lunch a few years ago when one of the post offices was starting a business services office and we were going to ask about special priority boxes and other exciting things. Since then, we've met a few times a year and I always have the very best time with them. I'm not a very social person, but I am not a hermit. At most parties and other social events, I listen and watch and I have a good time. At these things, I can dive into conversation with ANYONE in the room and be fascinated. Thrilled. Ecstatic. Here's what we talk about: reading books, repairing books, selling books, shipping books, book buyers, buying books, book sales, book thieves, book sellers, storing books, and, of course, the election. Then when almost everyone had gone home, we hardy partiers pawed over some beautiful cool old books. Man! I was reeling with joy when I left. Lovely.
