fortitude

I noticed more gray hair after I got a haircut a while back. I think the weight of my longer hair allowed them to lurk unnoticed, but with short hair they spring into view. They're not just a different color. They have a different character--far more assertive. They don't comb flat. Not a big deal; my hair is other people's problem, especially now that it's too short for me to see any part of it. When we were camping last month, I realized on the fourth day that I had neglected to comb it at all on the three previous days. Without the older kids, there was no one to inform me if I looked ridiculous. Plus from the third day on I had a hat--a pink cowboy hat. So there's no doubt that I did look goofy, if not unkempt.

I have them too. They're weird -- springy and don't want to lie straight. They even feel different.

Keeping my hair in a ponytail means I sometimes forget to brush it. Keeping my hair in a ponytail also means that if I don't, it's not too noticeable.

My grey hairs (I call them silver!) do the same thing. I'm rather entertained by it. Once I had one sticking straight up and badmagic asked if I get AM or FM on it.
