When I talked about seeing the show, chickenhat
told me that there was plenty of stuff to keep a toddler engaged. I thought, "Ho ho ho, no one in their right mind takes a 3yo to a grownup play." That may be so, but as it turned out the only night Brian could go was tonight and all of the babysitters were otherwise engaged. So we took a 3yo to see the play and--although I pity the people in front of us, we really should have pulled our chairs back 10 feet or so--it worked out great.
The show is a lot of fun. I can't wait to take my friend along next week (except she has back problems, so I have to remember a seat cushion). It looks good, it sounds good, and it's very, very funny. And there's cake! And beads!
Since I knew there were masks and I know how easily Victoria wigs out, we talked about how funny the masks would be. Victoria decided that she needed a bunny mask. Three minutes later, she changed her mind and we ended up making a bird mask. She also brought along a backpack full of foaming bubble bath soap (I can not explain this, I am simply reporting) and I stuffed snacks in all of my pockets. She knew the other kids there, so they played at intermission and afterwards. Still, it never would have worked if the play hadn't been so active and colorful and FUNNY. It was a blast. Now to get the other kids there...
