Screen on the Green

This was a lot of fun last night. Apparently it's been going on for a few summers, but no one told me until last month. Just show up on the Mall on Monday night and watch a movie. We saw All the President's Men. I like watching movies set in DC because it's a little thrill to recognize stuff in the scenery--it was especially fun with the Capitol gleaming just beyond the screen. The final movie scheduled for the summer is Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. That should be excellent.

Last night's weather was perfect for it and although we got there at about 8:30 and sat far from the screen, we could see perfectly. The sound was thin, though, and the partying was thick--we moved a couple of times to avoid revelers. There was a huge crowd on the red line home. It would have been horrible if Metro hadn't reconsidered and nixed the two-car evening train idea.
