You've got a speck of something there

If you're on my friends list, I want to know 3.6 things about you. I don't care if we never talk, or if we already know everything about each other. Short and sweet is fine ... you're on my list, so I want to know you better!

Comment here and re-post a blank one on your own journal.

01) What is your favorite flavor of scented marker?
02) Describe the uniform of your dreams.
03) What is the earliest book you remember reading as a kid?
04) If I bought you a drink

3.6 things?

1) favorite scented marker...sharpie. If you mean what flavor, probably grape, but I haven't made a study. I avoid most scented things (except the occasional vanilla candle).

2) uniform of my dreams? Not sure I understand this question at all. I wear whatever I want -- often my nightgown -- to work. I haven't had a job where jeans weren't appropriate 95% of the time, if you mean work uniform.

3) I've been told I read one of the Dr. Seuss books (I think Hop on Pop, but I'm not sure) when I was 4. I know I read many many many books, but the first one I remember was reading the Chronicles of Narnia when I was 10 (and crying at the end because they all died). I can picture my bedroom at the time.

4) favorite drink -- Coke or champagne (depending on alcohol content and price range!) or long island iced tea

(Oh, now I understand the 3.6 -- I saw someone else's, and it is 36 questions -- most of which I personally couldn't really answer or care about for most people ;-) so thanks for the change!
I'll wait to repost in my LJ until I understand number 2!)

Yeah, the 36-question thing showed up on so many of my friends' pages that I was sure I was the last to see it.

The second question refers to what you would want to wear if you had to wear it day after day. It springs from my own, er, wardrobe issues: when I had to dress for work, even though each office I worked at considered itself "casual" I somehow managed to screw up dressing myself on a regular basis. I yearned aloud for a compulsory workplace jumpsuit but I had a hard time garnering support from my co-workers.

That makes sense. Except now I am really curious -- how did you manage to not dress okay for a casual work place? None of my t-shirts have obscenities, so I was usually good with jeans and t-shirts, every day. I can understand the desire for taking decisions out of the morning. However, the idea of jumpsuits and regular restroom visits don't work for me ;-)
So put me down for jeans & t-shirts. Obscenities optional.

Each time it was different and there were SO many times! My sneakers had too many holes. My sweater was smelly (that was a bad day--everyone was very embarrassed). At APA they had Shorts Fridays in the summer but one Friday I was told "not those shorts". It got funny when I was working at the same campus my daughter attended. She would come by the office and pretend (I am sure she was pretending) to be appalled at my appearance. "It will probably be ok if you sit behind your desk all day," she told me, "and once it's dark you can dash out to the parking lot."

Well, no one can say you aren't interesting to work with! ;-) I look forward to the chance to appall my boys, although so far they like things like orange shirts and purple socks, or red shirts and green shorts (no not for Xmas), oh, and stripes and plaids. And they don't want to comb their hair, they don't care.

So does V care about the uniform you wear now? ;-)

V doesn't seem to worry about what I am wearing, but she spends most of each day with a patch over her good eye, too.

1) Don't do scented anything. Perfumes tend to kick off my allergies.
2) I'm not into all black all the time like so many others, but I do very much like monochrome. The age of polyester was wonderful in that respect - you could get pants and shirts of the same material (just woven slightly different) in matching dye lots. It was glorious.
3) I'm pretty sure Batman, but the memories are suspect. Possibly a Readers Digest, but I think that has more to do with memory than reading ability, I was at that cusp between being able to read and not and was reading something and my parents accused me of faking it from memory, so they handed me a Readers Digest since they knew I hadn't been read to from it, and I read it for them. Which is why I remember it so well; but obviously I had been reading stuff before that too, I'm pretty sure Batman comic were in there.
4) Coke.

3.6 things? I like it! :-)

01) Well, if anyone ever made a bacon-scented Sharpie, I'd be all over it like stink on a warthog
02) Jeans and a polo shirt. I need more polo shirts. Especially if I can mooch 'em off the Cisco guys
03) Either the Bible, or a kids' astronomy book called "The Earth in Space". In first grade I signed it out, and renewed it until there weren't any more lines on the little blue-lined checkout card :-)
04) I'd drink it

1. the gerenic Sir-Marks-a-Lot scent... although I do remember grape and lemon as standout scents

2. a combination of black and blue denim, with leather patches/accents at the shoulders, elbows, and wrists. non-skid/non-slip boots that go up just above the ankle.

3. Lazy Peter Pumpkinhead...

4. ... would be a beer.

01) I have too many allergies to like scented anythings.
02) Medical scrubs. They are comfortable, washable, and come in a kazillion interesting patterns.
03) 101 Dalmations - over and over again
04) My drinking is directly driven by my mood. If I'm happy I drink fun drinks like Mojitos and Margaritas. If I'm sad I drink like and old man. I used to drink Salty Dogs when I was sad but I'm not allowed to have grapefruit juice anymore so it's more Whisky Sours or Singapore Slings.

01) What is your favorite flavor of scented marker? Markers should not be scented.

02) Describe the uniform of your dreams. Um????

03) What is the earliest book you remember reading as a kid? As I told slightlymadmom... the first book I read myself was called The Secret Cat. The first no-pictures book was Heidi.

04) If I bought you a drink... why do all these drink invitations come from people who live a day's drive or more away??? I need friends who live near me, dang it.

36 questions?
where are the other questions
Sep. 27th, 2008 04:11 am (UTC)
1. Don't really like marker smells, but if I had to smell one I'll imagine there is a watermelon flavor and pick that.

2. Covered in diamonds from head to toe.

3. I don't have such memories, but I read books from pretty young. I remember a few, like "I Like You" and "Caps For Sale"

4. Then I'd owe you one. I'd have a mojito.
