holiday party suggestions redux

Criminy. xAnn and I are desperate. Our holiday party is in a couple of weeks and we have nothing entertaining planned. We are so worried that we asked xM for help and he did have a good idea. A scavenger hunt could be fun, right? We have to work on the details. Help me!

We're holding the party at a coworker's house in Columbia. So xM suggested that teams leaving campus be given a list of things to find on the way there, things that would be used together at the party site in some amusing way. See what I mean about the missing details? We agreed to meet again tomorrow to flesh out this skeletal plan so any ideas you FoKs can come up RIGHT AWAY with would be most appreciated!

maybe everyone needs to locate a $200 check made out to me so when they get to the party, I would be there, tell a couple jokes about poop, spill water on myself and leave with the checks.

It would be perfect.

in other news, this is a really cool idea and I am going to shelve the poop idea (temporarily, of course) and think of some ideas you could actually use.

Distinctive local landmark in Beltsville on Route One, North of Campus: Vet's Liquor. That sign. Those glowing eyes. {{shudder}} It's even been featured in Zippy the PinHead. Have them bring beer with a receipt it comes from there.

I suggest rest stops (there's one on 95 near Laurel) or other public places (parks, maybe?) where you can gather brochures or other freebies. Then when they get to the party you can have a table set up for making holiday decorations with them. Ok, I know it sounds lame, but I would get a kick out of finding random things and then trying to creatively cut a brochure to make a nice hanging ornament or table centerpiece.

Really, it sounded better in my head...
