1. What job do you have, and why do you like/hate it?
I do computerish things for a college. I like the work, I like the people I work with, and I love working at a university. I don't care for the bureaucracy and waste that is part-and-parcel of being a government employee, nor do I enjoy the schedule.
2. As a kid, what did you want to be when you "grew up?"
I remember thinking I would be a veterinarian, but by the time I left elementary school I think that had fallen by the wayside. I did know that I wanted to be a parent, but I haven't had any strongly desired goals regarding a career.
3. Is the job you have now anything like what you imagined as a kid?
No. When I was a kid, my dad had a computer in the basement. I gave it a wide berth and was encouraged to do so.
4. Do you have a five-year career plan?
Mmmmaybe... I did have a plan to homeschool my youngest kid, who turns five this month. The universe has cooperated and I think my plan to bring that about is practically completed. My next five-year plan is to be all seat-of-the-pants about it.
5. In order to get the job of your dreams, is there anything you wouldn't do? Why?
The job of my dreams? Ice cream taster? Bookstore buyer? Benevolent dictator? The only things I wouldn't do would be the same things I wouldn't do anyway.
